Dry Stone Walling Training for Beginners

Training Programmes

We run three or four weekend training courses each year at our Training Site at Kilbarchan Braes. The site offers a range of interesting and challenging walling features for both the beginner and skilled waller.

We have a number of trained qualified instructors who are skilled in the craft. They will oversee the training, answer questions and provide advice throughout. The courses start at 9.00 and finish around 16.00 each day, with suitable breaks throughout the day.

The courses are very "hands on" and practical in nature, the accent is on the minimum of verbal instruction and learning by doing. The physical effort involved is not great, and at any rate help should always be asked from your walling colleagues if the stones are heavy to move.
